Hmm..I'm currently reading this book called Chainfire. It's the 9th book of the Sword of Truth series. And the male lead in this story is Lord Richard Rahl (a war wizard and the seeker of truth) who was married with Kahlan Amnell (Mother Confessor).
In the previous books, both of them went through lotsa ordeals and finally they could be together. Nevertheless, they are still in the middle of the war against evil Emperor Jagang so they could not have a normal life yet. And somehow, after Richard recovered from injuries, he found that Kahlan has disappeared. To make things worse, all people except him, no longer remember the existance of Kahlan. Richard tried to persuade others that Kahlan exist and someone must have cast some spells to make everyone forget about her. He was afraid that she was in some sort of danger.
Oh dear, I thought. It was so hard for them to finally be together. And suddenly, she disappears. Richard had to lead his people in the final battle against Jagang, without him, as the prophecy said, all would be lost. The world would be under the brutal ruling of Jagang. At the same time, he could not abandon the search for his love of life. And no one could help him as they believed that Kahlan was just someone Richard dreamt about. Imagine the loneliness, the agony, the pain he had to face...it was cruel but yes, that is what that makes me want to continue reading.
Hopefully...Richard would be able to find Kahlan.
